Tree Awamutu Guidelines

We are so pleased you have decided to enter a tree into the Tree Awamutu Christmas Tree Forest!

Here are some simple ideas and guidelines that will help you prepare your tree for the big day.

GUIDELINES

SIZE

So we can fit in all the trees and avoid damaging our lighting your tree must be contained in an area no greater than 1.5m x 1.5m and be no taller than 3m.

THEME

Plan to contain a Christmas message in the design of your tree that shows who you represent.

Think about engaging the public with intrigue.

Tree Awamutu is hosted by ZION Church, as such we request that participants are respectful of the mission and values of the church when selecting a theme. We reserve the right to decline any theme that does not align with these values.

REMEMBER

Your creativity is what will set your tree apart!

LIGHTING

Trees without lights get lost in the crowd, so make sure you bring along lights, an extension cord, and a multi-board to help your tree to be seen.

You provide the lights, we’ll supply the power.

VOTING

The public will have an opportunity to vote for your tree, so remember to consider what might win their vote, or just bring all your friends and tell them to vote for your tree!

CHILDREN

Small children will be attending Tree Awamutu, which means they will be looking at and touching your tree!

Make your tree fun but be aware of your audience and how they may interact with your display.

TREE EXAMPLES

  • A large tree that included cans of food (which were donated).
  • A tree with handprints of children at a local school.
  • A ladder containing technology.
  • A pyramid of (new) nappies in boxes (which were donated).
  • Car parts welded together to form a tree.

The key aim of your tree should be to represent who you are and what Christmas means to you.
