Youth Ministry
A place where teens can connect with others their age, build friendships, and explore faith together.
Teenagers are naturally drawn to community; they’re a tribal bunch. Youth Group is a space where rangatahi can connect with others their age, build friendships, and explore faith together. There’s a good chance they may even know some of each other already.
We’re passionate about supporting young people through the challenges they face every day and helping them have the best opportunity to thrive in this season of life. It can be challenging but it’s not impossible, and they don’t have to do it alone.
Sunday Gatherings
We gather every Sunday during term time at the Zion Hub. Our rangatahi (13 and up) have their own programme during the service — teaching, discussion and activities, with room to build real friendships and grow in their faith. It is a place to feel included, valued and challenged.
Each term there are also a couple of youth events outside of Sunday, from low-key hang-outs to bigger trips.
During the school holidays
Our youth programme follows the school terms, so it takes a break over the school holidays. We still love having rangatahi with us on Sundays — here is how it works during the holidays:
- Youth join the gathering with their whānau — there is no separate youth programme during the holidays.
- Parents and caregivers are responsible for their young people throughout the gathering.
- We encourage our rangatahi to join in the service — worship, the message and communion are for them too, and we love having them fully part of it.
Not sure whether youth is running on a particular Sunday? Check the dates below or get in touch — we will happily let you know.
Evening Games, Kai & Pit Fire
We’ll head to the Ducketts’ house to play games, eat some kai, roast marshmallows on a fire, and have some deep chats as it gets dark, with a short devotion from Josh, Zion’s senior leader.
Bring a jacket and closed shoes — it’ll be cold out.
Koha is appreciated but not required to be able to attend.
Term 3 school holidays — no youth programme
Youth back for Term 4
