Kids and Youth at Zion
We love welcoming tamariki and rangatahi at Zion and are passionate about creating a fun, safe, and faith-filled space where they can feel at home, build friendships, grow in their relationship with God, and discover their purpose. During our Sunday Gatherings, we offer engaging, age‑appropriate programmes designed to support them on this journey.
Zion Church Kids and Youth Ministry Statement
Equipping kids to know who they are in God, creating deep rooted foundations which will carry them through life and enable them to equip others through sharing the good news of salvation, and the love and word of God.
When we meet
Zion Church meets every Sunday. Zion Church runs a kids and youth programme during term time (including Sundays immediately following the last day of school). Each programme is tailored to the age and stage of the children involved, with engaging activities and caring leaders.
For Zion youth each term there are two events that occur outside of Sunday church gatherings. Events include low key social gatherings to paid events.
Zion Kids and Youth Caters For
Zion kids and youth range from 2years – approx. 17 yrs old.
Sprouts
Children under 2 years old
Sprouts is our space for babies and toddlers under 2.
A dedicated parents’ room is available where little ones can play and rest while remaining under the supervision of their parents or caregivers.
The room is equipped with a TV so families can still watch and engage with the Sunday message in a comfortable, low‑pressure environment.
Ferns
Children 2 – 6 years old
Sprouts is our space for babies and toddlers under 2.
Ferns is designed especially for children aged 2–6 years.
Running during school terms, this program offers a fun and nurturing space with activities tailored to young children.
Our VET‑checked volunteers lead the program, helping kids feel welcome, cared for, and excited to learn while parents enjoy the service.
Kids
Children 6 years old and over
Our Kids program is for children aged 6 and up.
Running during school terms, it offers an engaging and interactive program led by VET‑checked volunteers.
Kids enjoy activities, teaching, and connection in a safe space while parents attend the service.
Youth
Children aged 13 years old and over
Our Youth program is designed for young people to feel included, valued, and challenged. Running during school terms, it offers engaging teaching, discussion, and activities led by our VET‑checked leadership team.
Youth is a safe and supportive space for young people to build strong friendships and grow in their faith.
Leaders
Maiken Laws and Laura Conlon oversee Zion Church Kids Ministry
Zion kids ministry is supported by members of Zion Church congregation volunteering as leaders and helpers in this space.
All Zion Church Kids and Youth leaders, and volunteers are policed checked and follow the Child Wellbeing and Safety policy.
Administration
All Kids and Youth who attend are required to complete a registration form this includes contact details, emergency contacts, any physical and emotional health challenges we need to be aware of, who can collect child/youth from Zion Church and Events etc.
There is a Tikanga that the Zion Kids and Youth put together with the leaders to ensure a safe and enjoyable space for the kids to come to.
Safe & Supportive Environment
Your children’s safety is important to us. All of our Kids and Youth leaders are police‑vetted and trained in line with the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for everyone.
