What is our Christian pursuit – God or work for Him? If we’re pursuing what we do for God primarily, we see/treat God like a taskmaster, our employer. We touch base with Him periodically to check in on our job list. We desire to be busy for Him because that gives a feeling of closeness/usefulness/meaning before Him. We only know Him to the depth we are working for Him.

If we pursue God first, let the only thing we strive for be Him and His presence, we then take our identity from Him, not from what we do for Him. The goal of whatever we do, is to do it close to Him. Therefore, we work and live from a position of rest, not striving.
The goal of whatever we do, is to do it close to Him.
“Sabbath rest” does not equate to doing less in our lives but doing more of our lives with Him. Focusing on our closeness to Him as we go about serving Him. Staying in “life-union” with Him as branches on the vine as John 15 TPT talks about.
It’s not that business is wrong, as in doing lots of things is wrong. Separation is wrong! Are we working for God’s favour instead of from God’s favour? Are we working for a relationship or from a relationship? Working from a slave mentality that says what we do makes us important versus working from a Child of God mentality their says we are already family and that makes us important to Him!
