A-House-Of-Prayer

A House of Prayer

Pray and seek God

As we head into the new season topic of the Super Natural, I thought about the early Church and the amazing signs and wonders they walked in.
I also have to note that they also had a very different attitude toward prayer than the one that is in most Churches today.

In fact, the one thing the apostles asked Jesus to teach them was, was how to pray.

They did not ask Him to teach them how to worship God, or how to heal the sick, and when they had an issue with being unable to cast out a demonic spirit Jesus rebuked them for their unbelief and said to them
“This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting” (Matt17:21 NKJV).

The Lord describes His house as a house of prayer.  In Isaiah 56:7 (NKJV)
“Even them I will bring into my holy mountain . And make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices Will be accepted on My altar; For my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

When we think of Jesus’s reaction to what was happening in the temple and the way he dealt with those who were buying and selling in the temple and the money changers. He again identifies it as a House of Prayer.
“It is written “My House shall be called a House of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.””
Matt 21:13 (NKJV)

We only have to read the Word to learn how to pray in our own understanding.
Jesus gave us the Lords Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 (NKJV),
we also have the amazing gift of tongues and are able to pray with the spirit. See 1 Corinthians 14 (NKJV).

The question I have to ask is. Is our Church a House of Prayer?
Fortunately, I can say yes we are a Church that prays, we have a zoom prayer meeting twice a week Monday evenings at 7pm and again on Thursday mornings at 7am and if those times don’t work for you there is a prayer meeting at the Church at 9am Sunday. I would like to encourage you to join us as pray and seek God.
