Arms Raised

Arms raised

Spiritual warfare is taking place on a daily basis, and like Moses there are people who stand in the gap, arms raised praying God’s will be done, and expecting the people will be given victory by God’s hand.

So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. Exodus 17:10-13 (NIV)

As shared in Phil Strong’s message ‘Common Unity’ (HERE) “there is nothing worse than being in the middle of a challenge and feeling alone”. While our challenges may not look like those faced by Moses, Joshua, and the Israelites, we still face challenges, and though our arms are likely not physically raised to the heavens as Moses’ were, we can still experience the weariness of a challenge long fought.

You may be experiencing a challenge right now, or just as likely, someone around you is in a challenge. Whichever position you find yourself in, this is the season to have your eyes, ears, and mouth open, that’s right, your mouth. Your eyes and ears need to be open, alert, and aware, gathering around you the people who will hold your arms up, or need you to hold their arms up. But more than that, open your mouth.

Open your mouth with prayer and praise to God who provides victory, open your mouth with encouragement and love to your ‘Moses’. Open your mouth and remind God, yourself, and others of the victory that is already ours. We have already won. Jesus already crossed the finish line.

No challenge will exceed our limitations, because we have a limitless God. Today might be hard. The season might be difficult. You may not know how you will get through. But you don’t need to know the ‘how’ to receive the victory, God’s got that covered.

As we each face our challenges I remind you, I remind me, to reach out to others, gather in common unity, lift and be lifted until God’s Kingdom comes.
