If you’re looking for guidance I suggest you embrace fasting as a spiritual discipline.
Several times in the Psalms we read David write, “I humble myself with fasting.” (Psalm 35:13, Psalm 69:10).
“I humble myself with fasting.”
Pastor Jentezen Franklin says, “Seeking God through fasting and prayer keeps doubt from your mind and helps us to understand the importance of relying on God’s word as truth.”
In his article supporting those fasting, he asks What is the connection between fasting and answered prayers? It’s a good read with solid biblical evidence to connect your prayers and your fasting in order that you would gain access to God’s guidance.
One of the keys to effective praying is praying in line with God’s will.
By putting aside your personal needs and choosing to embrace the Biblical discipline of fasting, you will find yourself aligned with God.
Jesus instructed His disciples to fast as preparation to see miracles. In essence, Jesus says “Guys, if you don’t fast you won’t see the demons flee.” (My simple paraphrase of Matthew 9:21)
I believe we are entering an era (a passage of time) where will see greater number of supernatural events and miracles that cause people to turn to God. The eye of the Lord is searching the earth for those disciples willing to be used by Him as his change-agents in the world, bringing light and freedom in the midst of darkness.
Put your hand up to be used by God.
As you embrace fasting as a spiritual discipline you will be setting yourself aside from the pleasures of life in order to present yourself before the Lord ready and willing.
How will you introduce fasting into your life?
