When we meet Christ at the end of times do we want to be known as people of peace or power? The more I think about it, the more my answer is yes.
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3 (ESV)
Recently Ps Phil shared a message during which he advocated for us to be people of power rather than people of peace. My answer once again is yes. Now I know my yes may be starting to sound confusing but hear me out.
I do not want to be known as a person who KEEPS the peace—maintaining an environment where everyone is ‘happy’ even though strife and toxicity sits dormant beneath the surface, always waiting for an opportunity to raise its ugly head. Instead, I would like to be known as someone whose power lies in their ability to BRING the peace, to completely destroy the strongholds the enemy builds in the hearts and minds of our communities. I want to have within me the perfect peace of God, so that no matter the storm that rages around me, I have peace. No matter how uncomfortable the situation, I can persevere until a resolution emerges and I can share God’s character of peace so that others can also have it. Now doesn’t that sound powerful?
To be a person who carries the peace of the Creator into every room I enter, a person who changes the atmosphere simply by being present; now that is miraculous.
According to scripture, the linchpin of perfect peace is a mind that stays on God. So as we enter into rooms, seasons and situations I want to encourage you to claim the power God has for you. Connect with God daily, read the Word, study His character, talk to Him, petition Him for yourself and others, listen to Him, immerse yourself in music and scripture that points to Him, make His character and Truth the centre of your day and watch what happens when you enter into atmospheres where chaos reigns.
