Christmas Tree Trail (Wooden Trees)

Welcome to the Te Awamutu Christmas Tree Trail (Wooden Trees) page, brought to you by the Te Awamutu Business Chamber and ZION.

On this page you can find out about our partners, participating schools, participating businesses, and the Christmas Tree Trail Collectors Card rewards!

What is the Tree Awamutu Christmas Tree Trail?

The Tree Awamutu Christmas Tree Trail is a project presented by the Te Awamutu Business Chamber and ZION to foster relationships within our community and bring some beauty to our CBD during the festive season by providing wooden trees to local schools for them to decorate. These trees are then distributed to local ‘adoptive’ businesses who display them in front of their stores in our Te Awamutu CBD.

When can I see the wooden trees?

The wooden trees will be on display in the Te Awmautu CBD over the month of December during the opening hours of the adoptive businesses. There will also be an opportunity to view all the trees together at the Tree Awamutu Event held at 38 Churchill Street, Wednesday 11th – Friday 13th 7pm – 9pm.

What does the Tree Awamutu Christmas Tree Trail cost?

Thanks to the hard work of the Department of Corrections to prepare the trees for our local schools, the generous donation of paint by Mitre 10 Mega Te Awamutu, the creative efforts of the local schools, and the care provided by local business the Tree Awamutu Christmas Tree Trail is FREE!

Where is the Tree Awamutu Christmas Tree Trail?

The Tree Awamutu Christmas Tree Trail will have trees out for viewing throughout the Te Awamutu CBD over the month of December. Find your tree by visiting out adoptive businesses, and don’t forget to pop in to say hello and to see if they have!

You can also visit your tree at the Tree Awamutu Event held at 38 Churchill Street, Wednesday 11th – Friday 13th 7pm – 9pm.

In 2024 the Te Awamutu Business Chamber and ZION are excited to invite you to take part in the Christmas Tree Trail, a scavenger hunt that guides you around Te Awamutu, visiting the wooden trees (decorated by local schools) that local businesses have adopted.

Each time you locate one of the wooden trees you will have an opportunity to visit with the adoptive business, who may have one of our six collectors cards.

Once you have all six cards flip them over to get the password to access the fun Christmas-themed worksheets.
