Unforced Rhythms of Grace

Are you tired?  Are you feeling worn out or worn down?

This is a time of year I find most challenging – the middle of the year – as we continue with the priorities and challenges of life in the midst of cold and damp days.  In this space I must force myself to find the answers Jesus has made available for all of us.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
(Matthew 11:28-30)

The Unforced Rhythms of Grace

As we read the words of Jesus we see He urges us to learn how to do life with Him;  “Walk with me and work with me”, He says.  “Watch how I do it”, He encourages.  Jesus says when we take time to be with Him, to watch Him and learn from Him, we will find rest for our souls.

When I think of “unforced rhythms of grace” I have a picture of waves washing over me and refreshing me.  Remember the days of summer when we sat in the ocean and allowed the waves to wash over us?  That’s a picture of the love of Jesus washing over us and bringing rest for our souls!

Jesus Has Overcome!

I’m also aware that there is an enemy of our souls prowling and seeking to devour the friends of Jesus.  Where the enemy has a target on us we can be confident Jesus has made provision for our victory.

A recent prophetic message I read said this;
“Where the enemy has targeted My people to bring pain, I have set a divine target to bring and breathe life again.”

Take time to be with Jesus, often, and you will find rest for your soul.  He says, “Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Have a blessed week.
