GIRGASHITES
The Girgashites were a nation who lived in homes made of dirt. Their name means “dwells in soil”.
What does this look like in your life? This looks like:
- reliance on your own strength
- weakness in character
- falling to the “old ways”
To overcome the Girgashites and remove the power of “flesh” from our lives we can Repent, Remove and Replace. We repent to turn away from wrong thinking and false belief, we ask God to remove by His Holy Spirit and we replace with God’s Truth as found in scripture. This can be accessed by a fresh understanding of the power of your water baptism which connected you to the death and resurrection of Jesus – you are a new creation!
SCRIPTURE
Here is a scripture that you can declare over your life;
Romans 6:3-4 (NIV)
Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
PRAYER
Here is a prayer that will help you to move into freedom from the weakness of the past life;
Prayer Guide: Father thank you for sending your Son to earth, that we may know him and be known by Him, that we may know you and be known by you. Thank you for calling us a new creation by the sacrifice of your blood, thank you for the promise that baptism holds, promise of new life and wholeness. God would you remind me of the new creation I am, reveal to me what I have been saved from and what I am saved for, Father that I may know the plans and purpose you have for my life.
